The best things to do in Gibraltar

By Ethan Roworth·Last checked 2 June 2026

There are about 30 things to do in Gibraltar. About 10 of them are worth your time. The rest are filler that tourist boards push because they need to fill brochures. This list is the 10 that matter, in the order I would do them if I had three days. If you only have one, do the first three.

Upper Rock Nature Reserve
#1

Upper Rock Nature Reserve

Gibraltar's flagship attraction. One £19 ticket covers St Michael's Cave, the Apes' Den, the Skywalk, the Great Siege Tunnels, the Moorish Castle, O'Hara's Battery, and the Mediterranean Steps trail.

Why we picked it: You are not visiting Gibraltar if you skip the Rock. Taxi tour or walk up (cable car closed for refurbishment), then hit the cave, the apes, the Skywalk and the Tunnels. A full half-day on its own.

Dolphin Watching Gibraltar
#2

Dolphin Watching Gibraltar

Join a boat tour into the Strait of Gibraltar to see three resident dolphin species. Operators report around 95% sighting rates year-round.

Why we picked it: Three resident pods means sightings are basically guaranteed. The boat trip is also one of the best ways to actually see the Rock from the water.

Europa Point
#3

Europa Point

The southernmost tip of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic and Morocco is just 14 kilometres away. Free, open all day, worth it at sunset.

Why we picked it: Africa visible across the water. The mosque is genuinely beautiful. Free, quiet, and the best sunset spot in Gibraltar.

FAQs

What is the number one thing to do in Gibraltar?

The Upper Rock Nature Reserve. One ticket gives you seven separate attractions and a half day of activity.

Can I see Gibraltar in one day?

Yes, just barely. Focus on the Rock, dolphin watching, and a walk around Casemates and Main Street.

I live in Gibraltar. Every pick on this page has been checked against the operator's own website. I am not paid to rank operators in any particular order. Some links on this site are affiliate links, but the rankings are based on what I would actually recommend. Read more about how we research.
