Why visit Gibraltar from Malaga
Malaga is great but you have probably done it. Gibraltar gives you a culture-shock day inside your Costa del Sol week. The Rock, the apes, and a proper British pub.
Recommended day plan
Early start. 7am bus from Malaga arrives 9am. Taxi tour up the Rock by 10 (the cable car is closed for refurbishment, taxi is the alternative at £35-50). Half day on the Rock, lunch at Marina Bay, late-afternoon dolphin trip, last bus back at 8pm.
How to get there
Car
90 minutes, 130 km on the AP-7 / A-7 motorway. Park at La Linea and walk across the border.
Bus
Direct Avanza bus from Malaga to La Linea, €15-18 each way, 2 hours. Several departures daily.
Parking
If driving, park at the multi-storey Santa Bárbara in La Linea. €15-20 a day, 5 minutes walk to the border.
Border crossing
Same as Marbella. Passport required. Allow extra time on cruise days.
