Gibraltar City Walking Tour with Karel
A 2-hour guided walk through Gibraltar's historic streets led by a licensed local guide, from Neanderthal origins to modern British life.
About this tour

Karel is a licensed local guide certified by the Gibraltar tourist board, and this city walking tour is one of the most personal ways to get under the skin of the Rock. The tour starts at Grand Casemates Square and spends up to two hours threading through streets that most visitors rush past without stopping.

The route covers the Landport Tunnel, Irish Town, war memorials, City Hall, Parliament, the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned, the Line Wall Synagogue, the Anglican Cathedral, the Law Courts, the Governor's Residence, Charles V Wall, Trafalgar Cemetery, and the Alameda Botanical Gardens. It spans the full arc of Gibraltar's history, from the Neanderthals who sheltered here 30,000 years ago through the Moorish occupation, the Spanish sieges, and two centuries of British rule.

The tour is conducted in English and Spanish. Small group format means you actually hear what Karel is saying rather than shouting questions from the back of a crowd. Tickets are £20 per person and can be purchased through buytickets.gi. The tour involves some uneven surfaces, so flat shoes are sensible.
