Gibraltar History Walking Tour — Gibraltar Heritage Trust
Weekly guided walks through Gibraltar's historic defences and civic heart, led by licensed guides from the Gibraltar Heritage Trust.
About this tour

Every Tuesday at 10:30 AM, the Gibraltar Heritage Trust leads a 90-minute walking tour that starts at The Main Guard on John Mackintosh Square and works through the layers of Gibraltar's military and civic history. It is free for children under 12 and costs £20 for adults, with a reduced rate for Heritage Trust members.

The route takes in Gibraltar's famous defence walls, the bastions and counterguards that held off sieges across the centuries, the winding streets of Irish Town, and the civic buildings around John Mackintosh Square. The guides are licensed, knowledgeable, and local, the kind of people who can point at a particular stretch of wall and tell you exactly which regiment built it and when.

This is not a packaged tourist experience. It is run by the organisation responsible for preserving Gibraltar's built heritage, which means the information is accurate, detailed, and laced with the kind of local pride that comes from genuinely caring about what you are showing people.

The tour runs every Tuesday and can be booked in advance through buytickets.gi. Comfortable shoes are advisable, the route involves some uneven surfaces typical of a city built on a rock.
